In my case, my budget is not infinite and I think that although my house has a lot of details that I would like to change, I live comfortably because I try to create an atmosphere. My mission is to have a place with cozy features and elements that make me feel good, since I spend a lot of hours in my apartment. The change of seasons is a great opportunity to mix up the ambiance of a place, so let’s find inspiration for summer interiors.
DREAMY SUMMER INTERIORS 💭
My home is kind of a wannabe 60’s/70’s set, but with some pastel touches that are linked to flowers and the magic of plants, I like that they live and change with me, it’s as if the evolution of the inhabitants of a place will be synchronized and I think that’s beautiful. It is a space with things from Ikea, but with other treasures rescued from thrift stores and flea markets, gifts from loved ones and some pieces that represent savings.
What details can I add this season to create some dreamy summer interiors? Perhaps the time that costs me the most. And the thing is that I like “summer vibes”, but the humidity of the Mediterranean leaves me tired.
🎨 Tonos / Shades 🎨
Ocher, orange and peach with hints of grass green, cobalt blue (reminiscent of a summer on a Greek island) and pink (pink is always present in this house). Light is perhaps the most important element of summer interiors and it is what I would like to emulate with these colors.
🏳 Textiles 🏳
It’s my favorite technique when I don’t want to spend too much and it also helps a bit to mark the changes of the seasons on something.
There are perfect options to accentuate the luminosity of a space and my choice is to go for natural fabrics and combinations of colored stripes that remind me of the candies sold at fairs.
📌 Moodboard Ilustrado / Illustrated Moodboard 📌
I illustrated these shelves with a theme in mind: a summer in the Mediterranean. The aim was to set a space where time passes more slowly and although the canvas is white, there are thousands of possibilities to incorporate colors and textures and objects from different environments:
– Verso Vase x Ferm Living: Un florero que de inspiración grecorromana para sentirme que estoy de viaje, aún cuando no tenga un boleto de avión./A Greco-Roman-inspired vase to make me feel like I’m traveling, even when I don’t have a plane ticket.
– Carafe x Maison Balzac: Hidratarse en esta temporada es crucial, y una jarra así haría ese recordatorio un poco más estético./ Hydration this season is crucial, and a jug like this would make that reminder a little more aesthetic.
I have always believed that aromas round off an interior design experience, and this Aesop fragrance with vetiver and basil helps to round off a cool summer moment.
– Greek Islands x Assouline: Cualquier libro que te haga viajar a un lugar paradisiaco mientras te lamentas frente al ventilador./ Any book that makes you travel to a paradisiacal place while you lament in front of the fan. Summer interiors that make you travel without leaving the couch.
This shade of yellow is perfect for the pastel accents in my house. In this vase I imagine an anthurium flower, a good one specially for summer months since it can last a lot.
I honestly don’t need, but for now I can draw it and imagine one decorating my living room.
– Cerámica y objetos que agreguen ese toque personal que no se puede conseguir en una guía de estilo./ Pottery and objects that add that personal touch that cannot be found in a style guide.
La casa como refugio / The house as shelter
I recently read that the house we live in is like a notebook where creativity takes control: you take notes, you get inspired, you take another note, you scribble and you write on top of it again.
I think one of the mistakes I made with my first floor was wanting to decorate suddenly and in my second house I let myself be surprised with the things I found along the way. I sold other objects that no longer made so much sense to me with the person I had evolved into, I looked for other things and I moved furniture, but with no haste.
There are many notes about spaces that are inhabited, and interior design has more to do with stories than with material objects.
Apostar por cosas de diferentes tiendas, huir del típico mueble de Ikea o pintarlo, dejar que la mugre se acumule sobre nuestros objetos, etc./ Betting on things from different stores, running away from the typical Ikea furniture or painting it, letting dirt accumulate on our objects, etc.
How to include summer as a dream concept in spaces, in our beauty routines, in the things we use and in which we dream? How are you spicing your summer interiors in the upcoming months?
Your space looks and sounds amazing. I love that you embrace color. Ocher, peach and pink with blue and green-just lovely. I have a mix of high low things in my space a lot the furniture I inherited from my mom. I had three pieces redone: a desk, a cabinet and an end table by a furniture artist, she did an amazing job. It was a great way to hold on to these pieces which were antiques or classic well made pieces and I could make them my own. I hope to do a video on this soon. And I balanced this out with more affordable pieces from Home Goods and local boutiques.
It’s true it takes time for a space to come together, if you try to buy things right away just to get it decorated you often miss the mark, I have made this mistak.

Thank you for the compliments Allie!
For me there are infinite ways to play with color and that’s why I always try to include whether in my clothes and in my interiors.
I am happy to read that you inherited many pieces from your mom, that sounds magical and it is lovely when this happen since you can find a second life for this furniture 🙂
Best!
I love your art work, Pablo. It truly evokes lovely emotions. And you give much food for thought about approach, about being conscientious in our choices. I have many ideas for my house, and I did manage one of them in early spring. But now I am spending my energy in the garden. Lovely post!
Thank you so much for your lovely words Michelle! This means the world to me 🙂
I love the illustration of the flowers! And it’s so nice you are able to take the time to plan and decorate and make your space your own too 🙂 I love that outfit with the striped shirt!
Thanks for your compliments Mica!
You know I love a nice striped shirt :)!
Hey Fungi!
Love seeing the way of have decorated your apartment throughout the seasons. I’m definitely big on having light, plants and cozy touches. Your illustrations are perfect. Let’s continue decorating all summer long!!!

Thank you dear Radi!
I love to move things constantly and to add different things depending on the season 🙂
Best and enjoy summer!
Pablo hi! I’m always amazed by how very calming the choices of color you use, whether in your illustrations and in your very own environment. It’s so interesting to see your thought processes played out in the physical spaces you occupy. You definitely should make more posts on your interior inspos and how you go about decorating as it’s all super inspiring to me. I’m quite messy and my space is reflective of that LOL and I definitely need to declutter and I’ve said that for ages now. It’s a bit hard to do as I procrastinate a lot and get suddenly sentimental about things that I have to get rid off or worse, these objects become so familiar they cease to exist even one is looking at them. I love how you keep your space neat and creative! The side table and red lamp are super cool finds and you look chic in your stripes! Here’s to more fun posts like this, Pablo 🙂
PS: I didn’t know that Mediterranean humidity is a thing. I vaguely remember someone saying that nothing beats the summer there as it hits different. In any case, I hope the humidity lets up so the summer of Barcelona can shine through ;D
Hey dear Shanaz,
Thank you very much for your lovely compliments and for always taking the time to read. This is the best motivation to keep creating these articles 🙂 I always have fun while creating the posts so then to see this reaward just take me to the moon!
Pablo
I absolutely love your art, Pablo! Perfect summer inspiration!
The striped shirt is lovely. You look very stylish!
Thanks Ivana 🙂 I hope you are enjoying summer!
Your art looks incredible and I love the vibrant colors in your interior! Most people resort to neutrals and barely ever go for even pastels so I love seeing something different. Me gusta mucho! <3

Thank you so much for your compliments!
I love to play with color and I think that even the neutral palettes could include pop of colors to make a statement :)!
Best!
Hola Pablo! How you doin there in Barcelona?
Here Summer has officially begun and we’re just meltin…but like evey year, so nothing special!^^’
Luckily at least this year we can finally be free to enjoy summer at its full, in fact are even started concerts, outdoor cinemas, clubbing at the beach and long night strolls after aperitif: not that I’ve done all of that yet but… how missed my summer nights!
Bet that the situation should be similar in Barcelona, since there in Spain you are even more “partygoers” than here in Italy!
But let’s pass to the topic of the day!
Wow, I can just imagine your place from the pics you’ve posted from time to time, and I’m pretty sure that it should be amazing, so unique and cool!
Just thinking of the color palette sounds so pro! And from all the tips you’ve shared here you can say how expert you are in home decor!
Everything sounds having a relaxing, cool and very personal vibes!
I’d love to do a similar job to my space (to do all the home is almost impossible since I’m living with my parents and our place is very big) , and I even try do get some “seasonal flavour” to my room, but not with all that accuracy!
I mean, my room has a pretty strong , how can say, “princess” core (you know, crystals chandelier, wallpaper with tiny roses, frilled curtains, white furnitures, exc…) so its pretty hard to change its imprint.
Let’s say that in summer I try to give it a more “summer in provence ” mood, basically changing textiles and carpet with more red/white gingham and bold wildflower prints, while in winter is more trusty to its core with white, pink and pastel little flowers prints.
Plus in summer I prefer rough cotton and linen and shaved rugs, while in winter is all more fluffy and warm materials.
But to be honest, sometimes I feell a bit tired of this stile and I’d love to try something totally different, like your home, burt it would be an huge amount of work ( and money) so I desist!
Anyway I think that yuo shold publish a home tour of your place: I’m so curious to see it!
I bet that it totally worth!
Useless to say that your illustrations are the best (I convinced my mom to buy all the textiles for the terrace – you know, for the chairs, sunbeds and swing) with prints just in the same style: I saw it at H&M and zara Home and couldn’t resist!) and your tips very smart and useful!
Hope that you’re enjoying your summer, dear friend!
Take care!

Hello dear Silvia, I hope everything is going well on your side 🙂
I hope you are enjoying summer, as you well said we are melting but I think temperatures are super high in Rome and in many parts of Italy at the moment…. so stay safe! The problem here is the humidity haha. But I just adore the summer vibes that you can feel in the city, many activities to do 🙂
Thank you so much for your lovely compliments and for sharing aspects of your place with me. I think you can always play with the topic and take it to a different level depending on the season / festivity. As you well said you can go for “Princess core” to “Princess in Provence” by changing or adding a few stuff. So it is all about experimmenting 🙂
I should publish a home tour soon, probably on social media…. who knows? It is very small tho haha.
Thanks for your lovely comments as usual Silvia :)!
Pablo
Happy Summer Pablo! Changing up your decor through details is such a practical and fun way to celebrate and romanticize a new season. A summer in the Mediterranean would be absolutely dreamy and to have it as an interior design concept is brilliant as it is wonderful way to encapsulate the whole mood of ease and slow living and your picks are marvelous. The carafe would be so nice to have both as a decor piece and as a way to stay properly hydrated. And the shape of that vase is so unique and artful. I really like designs from the Hay brand as well. Your moodboard and illustrations are lovely and I always enjoy the little peeks into your space where it looks like you’ve put your tips into practice! Your bedside table and lamp are delightful as are the combination of colors – one of my faves! I agree that our homes are should contain elements that make us feel comfortable since we spend so much of our lives there. Like you I have been taking advantage of peony season ^_^ I like many flowers but they are the one I totally can’t get enough of. I haven’t added any new decor because I’m still in minimalism mode but we do have new basil and cherry tomato plants that have brightened up the area leading up to our terrace. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to open the door because of poor air quality and our building is doing work on our balconies. I always look forward to summer and then the weather gets hot and I kind of get over it really quick LOL! I find the humidity Thankfully it’s not that hot yet in NYC. I’ve already transitioned into more dishes like salads that don’t require cooking or less cooking and making more refreshing treats ;p I And I’ve dialed back my skincare routine to lighter products and higher protection sunscreen. May this will be a wonderful summer that is not so humid for you in Barcelona! Those themed dinner parties you mentioned sound like a splendid idea.
Thank you for aways taking the time to read my posts and offering your feedback. As a fellow creative I was very interested to hear about your thoughts on dealing with creative ruts. Going for a walk is such a good way to clear the mind and we also get the benefits of visual stimulation and exercise. I wish I could get everything on my wish lists but my wallet says otherwise but with classic clothing pieces, it’s easier to justify as I can wear them for many years. I hope you’re enjoying your mandoline slicer. I did get mine and find it’s such a time saver in the kitchen but I’m very careful as I have friends who have sliced their hands on the blade so do exercise caution when using yours. Happy July to you Pablo! Stay cool!
Hey Rowena, how you doing?! Hope you’re having a lovely summer in NYC!
I appreciate your compliments, and there are many ways to play with the seasons and to spice our projects, homes and clothes with important aspects of each weather 🙂
Mediterranean summer is nice, but the only problem is the humidity, however I like the plans that pop up in many cities and the way everything feels alive. I hope you manage to survive the humidity season in NYC, a friend went a few days ago and told me that it is crazy!
Take care and stay hydrated friend :)!
Hey Fungi! I hope you are doing well in the beginning in June!
I love your interior series<3 Your illustrations, photos, collages and writing make me happy:) My material desires transform into great inspiration!
The writing about Loewe candle is so humorous, and I totally agree with it, hahaha:)
Your ink drawing is really great and charming, Fungi! When I saw that your outfit on your instagram, it is so exciting for me!! It is cute that stripe is from candy:)
Thank you for a lot of ideas, Fungi<3
