There are clothes that in so little time become part of your wardrobe, acquiring the category of ‘must have’ par excellence. Today I teamed up with my friend Gil Melendrez from PAPER HEART MX blog to talk about the history and the benefits of the bomber, a jacket classified as a ‘timeless piece’ and a garment that is present each season by the way designers reinvent it.
The first appearance of the bomber jacket was in World War II -though some say it was during the First, when the army began to devise ways to preserve heat during the flights- used by British pilots. Wide cut with tight cuffs, neck and waist. Going to war in a chic -unconsciously- way was the beginning of the history.
The Vietnam War (1955-1975) was televised and almost accidentally increased the exposure of this garment to the masses, being immortalized by pop culture characters such as James Dean in Rebel without a cause or Steve McQueen in The War Lover… The story of some items we see today at Zara or H&M could work as an argument to tell in a good movie.
It actually matters where your clothes come from, in an attempt to generate a better connection and reinvent their use. Its presence in every season presents the bomber jacket as a piece that can be worn to go to the office, to the university and hopefully not, to war.
¿Tú cómo rockeas tu bomber?/ In solid colors, metallics or with patterns. Gil shows us how he rocked out this bomber jacket with shirts, t-shirts and jeans in different colors. How do you rock out your bomber?

Hola Pablo!
So happy we share this love for bomber jackets. Thanks to your info in the beginning, now I know how this trend appeared on the scene.
I find Gil's bomber super cool because of the color and the way he styled it.
Thank you for taking the time to comment on my new post.
I was thinking we should switch for Halloween since you love it and would like to celebrate it in America. I wouldn't mind being in Barcelona because I'm not into Halloween. What do you say?! 🙂

YAS, Radi! It seems that we are kind of synchronized, haha!
And come to Barcelona, you're very welcomed! I'm sure you will enjoy the traditional Spanish food 😉
I think I knew that bomber jackets originated from era of WW2 but I didn't know precise details…it's always fun to learn the history behind some trendy item. The history of leather jacket is also interesting- when it first appeared it was worn by pilots and bikers and now it is embraced by everyone…just like bomber jacket. I do love bomber jackets.
Your friend looks very stylish in this outfit.
I want one in every single color.

Besos, Ingrid!
Hola Pablo! It was so interesting to get to know the history of bomber jackets – I've never thought that the first ones were worn during Second World War.
