We just needed to confirm patches and pins as the hottest trend of the season to know that 90’s never left at all and that your Spice Girls cassette is still playing on the radio of your Toyota Supra (by the way, I’m getting old).
Now patches and pins are back and we can find endless options in almost any clothing store, prompting us to play with our creativity in what I think is one of the funniest trends of recent months.
What I like about this trend is the fact that there is a certain nostalgia associated with it: World War II aviator jackets, 1960s hippie denim, Boy Scouts uniforms and pre-internet cartoons.
You can add a funny twist to that boring piece, as I did with this jacket with an easy DIY, it doesn’t matter if you’re not handy with needle and thread, just put your iron on and some patience to style the patches like a pro.
We don’t know how long this trend will be around; but for now let’s have fun with patches and let’s meet after school to exchange pins, Pokemon stickers and watch a new chapter of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Hello Pablo,
OMG! You're making me feel so nostalgic now. Spice Girls and Fresh Prince of Bel Air? I think we live in the same era. Over here, we do not patch our jeans with such cool patches. It would be simple colours or just leave the jeans ripped as a kinda fashion. I can imagine how totally cute the Lion King patches look! The patches you have on this jacket is so cute! I love the grumpy dino and the cloud that's puking rainbow.

Thank you for visiting my site and for leaving such a kind, lovely and sweet comment. I also love meeting new friends across the world and I'm glad to have connected with such a creative and artistic person.
The only W hotel I've visited is Singapore and I wonder if the W hotel around the world is more or less the same modern funky feel. I'm glad you got to visit the ones at Mexico and Barcelona.
I've followed you on bloglovin and agreed, let's continue to keep in touch. =)

Hey there Jo! Thanks for your lovely comment, actually I'm kind of nostalgic too when I think about the 90's TV shows I used to watch! But hey, these trends are here to remind us that we can take the coolest things from this year to maintain joy in dressing up as an adult!
Have a lovely week and looking forward to visit your site again!
Pablo
Hola Pablo! 🙂 Personally I really like this trend too, it's really easy to incorporate it to the wardrobe, which we have already had! Personally I also remember funny patches when I was a kid (we're in the same age, so I exactly know what do you mean writing "Lion King patches") and I have to look around in Bershka to see if similar patches are still available in stores – btw, you did great DIY, the jacket looks so cool now! 🙂

Hi Ivonne! Yes, the great thing about this trend is that you can use it in those clothes you don't like anymore, to spice them a little bit up! Hope you find some similar patches in your city 😀
Chris, xx

Hola Pablo!
Way Cooool. Love what you did to your jacket. It really is the best way to let your personality shine. Plus, you won't see anyone wearing the same jacket anywhere else. I LOVE it!
Have a great one!

wow, that illustration is fantastic!!!! I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading this post, really it brought a smile on my face after a very difficult week. I remember Lion King so well…and Prince of Bel Air…that was a classic! I remember how much I loved patches back when I was a kid and a teenager. I even sewed on many of them myself. Why not do it again? You inspired me to do some DIY.
Your patched denim jacket is to die for. Phenomenal urban outfit…so stylish. You look great my friend.
Have a great week!

Besitos!!

I am so happy to have seen you being the model of the post. The patch trend is in and it is hot, it is funny how something we took for granted as kids is now a trend and we end up valuing it. You jacket is super coll and I literally need to get myself one too.

I really love the patches, Pablo! I've been wanting to have those since I was in grade school and put it on my backpack. Ahh, very nostalgic and at the same time a reflection of how cool and artsy a person can be. 🙂
