ONE WEEK IN PARIS

Yes, I’m sure that your mind pictured the image of Paris with the Eiffel Tower shining through the flashes of the cameras of hundreds of tourists.

        BONJOUR PARIS!

Esta fue mi segunda vez en la ciudad desde 2008 y no sé si mis recuerdos de adolescencia se perdieron en algún lugar del cosmos, pero no recordaba París tan fascinante y a pesar de haber estado por una semana, creo que al final no hay tiempo suficiente para abarcar todo lo que ofrece./ Yes, everything has been written and said about Paris, but trust me that among the clichés (precisely a French word that means “stereotype”) you’ll find reasons to continue exploring the city even if your feet hurt, and if that happens you can boost your energy with a croissant. This was my second time in the city since 2008 and I don’t know if my memories of adolescence were lost somewhere in the cosmos, but I didn’t remember Paris so fascinating and despite I was there for a week, I think that there is no enough time to encompass everything this place offer.

Aquí algunos lugares OFF THE MAP, porque es más que obvio que irán a ver Notre Dame y el Louvre (que merecen la pena y mucho), pero siempre hay espacio para más propuestas:/ Here some places OFF THE MAP, because it is obvious that you’ll visit Notre Dame and the Louvre (which are worthwhile and a lot), but there’s always room for more proposals:

  F O O D

¿Se puede pedir más?/ Thanks to the recommendation of Ylenia (@ineffabledaze) we were able to taste very good French food next to Notre Dame. Can you ask for more?

You can’t leave Paris without eating a good crêpe (or maybe three), and although we tried many crêperies, this was our favorite in the Saint-Michel neighborhood.

If you’re around the are make sure to stop at Pink Flamingo and order a Björk pizza with extra salmon.

PS: No olviden hacerse un selfie en el baño./ A dose of atypical burgers and make sure to order a colorful cocktail in one of the most instagrammable restaurants in Le Marais. PS: Do not forget to take a selfie in the bathroom.

Punto final./ And 100% recommended to sit and watch life (even if it’s raining) from a Parisian cafe for at least an hour. Period.

Go here for your atypical souvenir and forget about the typical Eiffel Tower statues. This concept store has the best gifts.

PS: Desde la terraza la vista de la Torre Eiffel es impagable./ I think this place is in my top 5 of my Paris favorites. If you like contemporary art and interactive installations, you’ll enjoy spending an afternoon at the Palais de Tokyo like us. PS: Catch the best view of the Eiffel Tower from the terrace.

I don’t lie if I tell you that this is the best flea market I have visited in my entire life. It is worth the trip to the Clignancourt area, once there make sure to pass by the pin stand and catch some 1€ pieces!

If I lived in Paris, I would spend all my free days in this place.

5. Canal Saint Martin: Icono del París pintoresco, este sitio es como encontrar un oasis en medio del bullicio./ Icon of the picturesque Paris, this place is like finding an oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle.

Many tourists often overlook this museum, but make sure to go! We were lucky to see the Dior exhibition and the curatorship is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Nos hospedamos en este barrio y fue una de las experiencias de viaje más bonitas./ Okay, Montmartre is a place that appears in all the guides but make sure to spend at least one day getting lost in its labyrinthine streets. We rented a place in this area and it was one of the most beautiful travel experiences ever!

PS: No olvides exagerar el sonido gutural de la R francesa./ Many locals speak Spanish or English, but be sure to learn a basic lexicon of French, it will save your life and in my opinion is one of the most beautiful languages. PS: Don’t forget to exaggerate the guttural sound of the French R.

Incluye muy buenas experiencias desde Musée De Louvre, Musée D’Orsay, Centre Pompidou, el campanario de Notre Dame o el Musée De L’Orangerie./ If your plan in Paris is to visit many museums this pass is the best option to save money and time, you just have to plan an itinerary. It includes very good experiences from Musée De Louvre, Musée D’Orsay, Center Pompidou, the bell tower of Notre Dame or the Musée De L’Orangerie.

If you haven’t been to Paris yet, or just do not remember too much, I recommend you to start saving those coins and book a ticket. This city will not meet your expectations, but will exceed them.

À bientôt!

    • Really?! You should! Actually I’ve been in other zones in France but Burdeaux and Lyon still in my bucket list!

  • Hey Fungi!

This post is totally making me dream of Paris. Can you believe I’ve never been there? That must change in the next year LOL!

I don’t think I’ll ever want to leave as chocolate crepes are my all time favorite! Plus, the fashion scene and shopping, I’ve heard is one of the best.

Hope you’re having an amazing weekend! Thanks for your friendship. Talk to you soon!

    • It will change, do an effort to travel to Europe and if you can do a quick stop in Barcelona!

And yes, the fashion scene in Paris is definitely another experience, but make sure to bring a lot in your wallet 🙁

Thanks for all the good vibes Radi!

  • Hola Pablo! I really liked your post about Paris – I visited this city about 9 years ago (!!!) and I think that I’ve to start to think about second trip to capital of France. It’s great that you mentioned about Paris Museum Pass – from my trip to Paris, from bad things I remembered those long queues to Musée D’Orsay and Musée De Louvre. What’s more, I totally agree with your opinion about Montmartre – the views from the top was as much amazing as from the Eiffel Tower.
Have a lovely evening, Pablo! 🙂

    • Hey Ivonne, it seems it is time to go back to Paris, right? If you come back make sure to buy the Museum Pass, could seem expensive at the beginning but trust me you’ll save a lot of euros!

      Besos a Canadá!

Me flipan tus post, Pablo! Can’t wait for the next one!
    Un abrazote!
    Paz

    • Hola Paz!

  • I am honestly so in love with these photographs. I swear I have spent the past few minutes just staring at each image. I probably missed it somewhere, but what camera do you use? I love how you’ve edited them all together as well, they’re all so nice. Anyway, this post is really making me miss Paris, I was there earlier this year and whilst it was freezing cold it was also insanely beautiful.

    Little Moon Elephant

    • Hey Amy, first of all thanks for stopping by and for your kind comment, I’m glad you liked the images! I use a Canon EOS 1300 with a 18-55 mm, nothing new or special actually, it is the regular DLSR and sometimes my iPhone 6 and a little bit of Photoshop but nothing more than brightness and contrast! Hope it helps and hope you can come back to Paris soon!
