MEXICO CITY #2: CHAPULTEPEC

Recuerdo haber ido a este sitio varias veces cuando era niño (mi mamá es del DF y solíamos ir bastante)./ Thank you for receiving me so well in my return to the blog, I feel very happy about that!… Ready to see more photos? We spent the first part of our second day in Mexico City at Chapultepec, a required site if you visit this metropolis…. I fell in love with it! I remember my child days spending my vacations at this place (my mom is from Mexico City and we used to visit the capital a lot).

The castle is located on the top of Chapultepec Forest, and is a witness of many important events in the history of Mexico: the battle of the heroic cadets, presidents and emperors and pre-hispanics legends that tell us how there forests were sanctueries for mexicas.

In love with these tiles, it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.

Una de las personalidades más importantes que ocupó el castillo como residencia fue el emperador austriaco Maximiliano de Habsburgo, quien embelleció el lugar añadiendo jardines, detalles para una decoración de lujo, etc… además de mandar a construir un boulevard (el actual Paseo de la Reforma) para comunicar el sitio con el Centro Histórico./ One of the most important personalities who occupied the castle as residence was the austrian emperor Maximiliano de Habsburgo, who improved the beauty of the place by adding gardens, details of luxury in the decoration, etc… he ordered to build a boulevard (today we know it as Paseo de la Reforma) to communicate the castle with the Historic Center.

If you ever visit Mexico City don’t forget to go to Chapultepec!…
